Ajmer blast case: RSS leaders meet to discuss charges on Indresh Kumar

Jalgaon, Fri, 29 Oct 2010 ANI

Jalgaon, Oct 29 (ANI): The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is holding a three-day national executive committee meeting in Maharashtra's Jalgaon city to discuss its strategy to counter the charges against Indresh Kumar, whose name figures in the chargesheet relating to the 2007 Ajmer Dargah blast.

Senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar, who has been accused by the Rajasthan anti-terror squad of plotting the 2007 Ajmer blast, is also attending the meeting.

The RSS has claimed that Indresh Kumar's name has been dragged in the Ajmer blast as part of a political conspiracy, and dismissed the charges against its functionaries, dubbing it as 'fabricated and politically motivated'.

Both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the RSS have accused the Centre and Rajasthan Government of playing politics in the name of 'saffron terror'.

Rajasthan Government, however, asserts that there is strong evidence against him in connection with the blast case.

Rajasthan Home Minister had on October 26 said senior RSS leader Indresh Kumar, whose name figures in the chargesheet relating to the 2007 Ajmer Dargah blast, will be interrogated by the Rajasthan Anti Terrorist Squad since there is 'concrete evidence' against him.

The Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) that filed the chargesheet on October 22 has claimed in its report that several RSS leaders including Indresh Kumar allegedly attended the secret meeting held on October 31, 2005.

According to the 806-page chargesheet, the conspiracy for the blast was headed by Swami Sananand, who arranged meetings in Jammu, Indore and Ujjain.

A small bomb had exploded just after evening prayers on October 11, 2007, at the famed Sufi shrine, resulting in the deaths of three and injuries to 17 others. (ANI)
