25,000 kilometers of road to be added by end 2010, says Kamalnath

New Delhi, Oct.27 (ANI): Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Kamal Nath said here today that by the end of the year, 25,000 kilometers of road expansion or construction work is expected to be completed.

 

Speaking at the Economic Editors Conference in the capital on Wednesday, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Kamal Nath said that 12 kilometers of road are being built every day on an average.

 

4,000 kilometers of road are being constructed in Naxal affected areas and 16,000 kilometers of one lane highway is being converted into double lanes in different parts of the country.

 

Stating that the Government has approved National Permit Scheme to allow seamless travel and transport, the Minister informed the participating editors that government is also working on single toll technology throughout the country. (ANI)
