At 93 she had been in hospital for over the past one year with various health complications.
Harivansh Rai Bachchan married Teji Suri in 1941 as his second wife after his first wife Shyama died in 1936 after a long ill-health due to TB. Teji was a Sikh by religion and was also a singer and theatre performer who did appeared in various stage shows written and translated by her husband. They have two sons: Amitabh and Ajitabh.
Her critical health was the reason that Bollywood’s first family had kept low the most talked about marriage of Amitabh’s son Abhishek and Miss World and famous actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan this year making it only a family affair.
As may be recalled, late Teji Bachchan's husband and well known poet, Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan had expired a few years back in January 18, 2003.
