Srinagar, Aug.4 (ANI): Continuing with their violent protests over the recent deaths during clashes with the police, groups of people burnt three govt vehicles and damaged many others at different localities of Srinagar on Wednesday.

A large number of protesters today came out on the streets at Qamarwari and Shalteng areas on the outskirts of the Srinagar city and stopped a govt jeep belonging to the local govt office and burnt it on the National Highway leading to the north Kashmir.

Reports of setting many other vehicles at other places also came in as the protesters took control of the national highway.

The area has been tense since yesterday due to the death of a local boy during yesterdays protest. However no reports of anyone's death have came in so far.

Local people said that the youth was not indulged in stone pelting and was killed intentionally by a local cop. They said that the protest will continue till the killings are not stopped.

On the other hand, separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Wednesday made an appeal for peace in the Valley asking the protestors not to burn police stations, rail tracks and public property and said violence goes against the Kashmir cause. By Parvez Butt (ANI)
