UNPA, the alternative to Congress and BJP: Mulayam Singh

Dec 05:  The Bikalpa Mahasamavesh rally organised by the Samajwadi Party in the religious town Puri, Orissa was able to draw a large number of crowd citing the need to put a political alternative in front of the people of Orissa. Editor of Oriya daily `Amarikatha', Kailash Mishra was the man behind such a huge rally who also stands as the Chief Ministerial candidate of the party.

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav while addressing in the rally attacked the ruling BJD-BJP coalition government and also Congress for their utter failure in the development of the state in their respective ruling period.

Yadav, on one hand talk about the late Biju Patnaik as a great visionary and a leader of people who led the path of Orissa towards development but on the other hand mugged the present Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s failure to keep that path of development and prosperity quoting the increased number of unemployed youth, downfall of agriculture sector, and also the ongoing industrialisation that eyes to plunder mineral resource of the state.

He said both Congress and BJP have so far failed to maintain peace and prosperity in the country and during their rule number of communal violence have increased and also the act of violence against minorities.

“Despite being one of the rich regions of the country with huge amount of natural resources and also enormous talented youth, the state is listed among one of the most backward in the nation”, he added.

Mr Yadav also showed his concern over the declining agricultural out put and also industrialisation that encourages foreign industries who are eying for drain out the nations rich natural wealth.

Yadav also announced Kailash Mishra as the Chief Ministerial candidate of his party in Orissa. He also promised to increase the unemployment allowance to Rs 1,000 and aid financial support of 25,000 for marriage of girls and free education of girls up to the degree level if his party comes to power.

Kailash Mishra quoted as saying that this rally has organised against Congress, BJP and BJD to give a better political alternative to the people of Orissa as the newly formed United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA), popularly known as the Third Front, aims to throw both UPA and NDA coalition out of centre.

State Samajwadi Party president Baishnab Parida in his address said that politics after independence by both Congress and BJP have been “self-centred” and development remains a dream for coastal regions as it has been shifted to secondary level in their agenda.

In fact it is the second biggest recent change in the state political scenario after the merge of Nationalist Congress Party and Orissa Gana Parishad (OGP) in September that sent a jitter to the ruling Biju Janta Dal (BJD). However, it will certainly difficult for the party like SP to make a mark in the sate where Biju Patnaik is still a sentimental character in the minds of the people and hence been a prime point of gain for BJD.
