London, June 12 (ANI): A tribute concert scheduled to take place in Rome, Italy on the first anniversary of Michael Jackson's death has been cancelled.
The 'MJM Tribute' was due to take place at the city's Stadio Olimpico venue on 25 June (10) but has been cancelled following furious protests from the late King of Pop's brother Randy, reports the Daily Express.
Randy blasted bosses behind the proposed event and called for it to be scrapped.
In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, Randy wrote, "I have some serious concerns about this tribute to my brother on the 25th of June in Rome... I have... concerns... First, where are the proceeds from ticket sales going...?? Second, the coordinator is telling fans that my brother is alive and will be there in disguise.... That deeply disturbs me... My family has plans to be at Forest Lawn (cemetery in Los Angeles, where Jackson is buried) on the 25th of June... I am outraged at the insensitivity and self-promotion of the tribute organisers."
And now Randy has thanked his fans for rallying against the show.
In a Twitter.com post, he wrote, "I also want to thank all of u (sic) for supporting me in an effort that has resulted in the cancellation of the tribute in Italy on the 25th." (ANI)
