London, June 11 (ANI): Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page was inducted into the Mojo Hall Of Fame during the music magazine's annual prize giving ceremony.

At the event on June 10, Page, 66, was hailed for his groundbreaking contributions to modern music at the 2010 Mojo Honours List Awards, which are voted for by readers of the publication.

"The '80s are almost the new '60s. You can hear the influence of that decade everywhere," the Daily Express quoted Mojo editor Phil Alexander as saying.

"Somehow, there is a freedom in parts of '80s music that resonates among a new generation of musicians and fans, and it underlines the age old Mojo belief that music is a continuum and never stops evolving," he added.

Other prize winners included Kasabian, whose hit Fire was named Song Of The Year, and Richard Hawley, who took home the Best Album prize for Truelove's Gutter.

Legendary guitarist Duane Eddy was presented with the Icon award.

The event celebrated the sounds of the 1980s, with The Stone Roses' 1989 debut album winning the Classic Album prize and ex-Soft Cell frontman Marc Almond named the Mojo Hero.

Keyboard-playing superstar Jean Michel Jarre received the Lifetime Achievement trophy at the London ceremony. (ANI)
