Following the western tradition of honouring worst performances in the Hollywood industry, India too had begun it for the Bollywood. On the line of Golden Raspberry awards or Razzie awards, Jatin Verma, the editor of 'Random', a Humour Magazine last year had begun the 'Golden Kela Awards' for honouring some best of the worst performances of the year.
In this move, the second edition of Indian version of Razzie awards has recently organised in New Delhi. The famous TV anchor and funny VJ Cyrus Broacha was the chief guest of this award function, who was the main attraction of this ceremony.
Broacha too was awarded from Cyrus Broacha Memorial Award. For getting this 'honour' the peculiar VJ commented that it was great to win this award and he would like to win it every year.
However, no other winners of Golden Kela awards were attended the award ceremony.
According to Jatin Verma, the organiser of this ceremony, these awards have been adjudicated through the online poll conducted on the website http://www.goldenkela.com run by Twenty onwards Media Pvt. Ltd.
On the basis of 2,72,893 votes, the awards have been declared, official site says.
Harman Baweja for his film What's Your Rashee? and Kareena Kapoor for her film Kambakkht Ishq were adjudged the worst actor and actress respectively while Kambakkht Ishq notched the top honour' by bagging the Worst Film Awards of 2009.
Kambakkht Ishq, What's Your Rashee?, Chandni Chowk to China and Dil Bole Haddippa! were the leading films for winning the most 'worst performance awards'.
Some special category awards were also been declared such as Lajja Award for Worst Treatment of a Serious Issue, Dara Singh Award For Worst Accent, Black Award for Emotional Blackmail, and Critics award for worst criticism for the movie.
Veteran Actor Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan both won the special category awards separately. Amitabh was elected for Black Award for Emotional Blackmail awards for Paa while Abhishek won the Dara Singh Award for his worst assent performance in Delhi-6.
Though Abhishek did not collect the award, but showed a sportsman sprit and marked this award as a milestone in his carrier. "At least 'Delhi 6' won something. I'm overjoyed," tweeted Abhishek in his twitter account.
The most embarrassing award Bas Kijiye Bahut Ho Gaya Award (stop the making film award) went to Madhur Bhandarkar for making movie of similar theme.
Not only Bollywood but also Hollywood were also covered from Golden Kela Award as it was involved in making some Bollywood movies like Chandni Chowk to China and Kambakkht Ishq.
For Chandni Chowk to China, the Warner Bros. production was also dis - honoured for 'The Insensitivity Award' while Hollywood superstars – Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards were awarded from 'Baawra Ho Gaya Hai Ke (Have you gone nuts)' for appearing in Kambakkht Ishq.
Kabir Khan and Aditya Chopra were crowned with Lajja Award for Worst Treatment of a Serious Issue on making New York.
Ashutosh Gowariker who made Lagaan and Jodha Akbar was elected for Worst Director award for What's Your Rashee?
