Jammu, Feb.10 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday said that it will investigate the case against Border Security Force jawan being held responsible for killing of 17-year-old Zahid Farooq in Kashmir Valley and make it a watertight case in court.

Addressing a press conference here, State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the state will prepare a watertight case against the person so that these kind of incidents would not occur in future.

"On the basis of evidence against that person BSF today handed over the suspension order to State Government. We were informed that whatever charges have to be framed and case has to be made that should be done. We are going to continue our investigation and we will try to prepare a watertight case so that person responsible for killing of Youth will get strict punishment through court so that it will become an example so that this kind of incident will not take place in future." said Abdullah.

Talking about the surrender policy, Omar described it as the need of the hour and said that this will encourage more militants to return to the state and manage their transition to civilian life.

"This policy is the need of the hour. The fact of the matter is that youngsters are coming today into Jammu and Kashmir on fake identity documents via Katmandu and via Dhaka. Now some of these people are surrendering and we are able to then monitor their activities and ensure that they don't get recycle into militancy. A lot of these people just come back and disappear. The idea of this policy is to ensure that we provide a channel for these people to come back and then recycle them back into the mainstream so that we know what they are doing."

Kashmir witnessed protests following the death of 16-year old Zahid Farooq on Feb 5. at Brain Nishat allegedly by security personnel. Local residents led by separatist leaders staged rotests demanding action against security personnel responsible for the death. By Dhriti(ANI)
