Militant hideout busted in Jammu and Kashmir
Poonch (Jammu-Kashmir), Dec.7 (ANI): Security forces busted a militant hideout in Mendhar region of Poonch district of Kashmir and seized a considerable number of arms and ammunition on Sunday.
The operation achieved success due to a joint combing operation of Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police.
The recovered arms ammunition included four AK-56 assault rifles, four pistols, 17 strips of bullets and explosives, four magazines and two jackets used in combats.
"A joint campaign was launched by the local police and the Defence forces resulting in the seizure of arms and ammunition. The current seizure is a subsequent action of the same operation," said Vivek Gupta Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Mendhar Police Station, Poonch.
Reportedly, Pakistan-based militant groups have stepped up their efforts to infiltrate into the region from across the Line of Control (LoC) before winter snow blocks the Himalayan Mountain passes. (ANI)
