London, October 09 (ANI): The Simpsons creator Matt Groening has said that the sequel to the movie version is not planned as yet.
"I suppose someday there might be a sequel, but not yet," BBC News quoted him as saying at a TV industry event in Cannes.
However, to the joy of fans, executive producer Al Jean insisted that the TV series would continue for several more years.
He said: "We think it has at least several years left."
Meanwhile, Matt said that he had initially not expected the show would be such a huge hit.
He added: "I knew that the show would be a success but I didn't know that it would be so big, last so long and become a global phenomenon."
The film version of the cartoon series which released in 2007 was a huge box-office hit. (ANI)
