Mumbai, Sep 24 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan on Thursday said that Congress party member Sunil Deshmukh could face disciplinary action if he contests forthcoming Maharashtra State assembly elections against President Pratibha Patil's son Rajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Deshmukh, who has been winning seats from the Amravati and Bhandara Districts of Vidarbha in Maharashtra for the last ten years was replaced by Shekhawat for the October 13 Assembly elections.
Chavan further said the party would try to persuade Deshmukh not to contest against Shekhawat.
Shekhawat, he said, had approached the party as an individual and and also insisted that there was no pressure from the president's office in the matter. (ANI)
