Gayatri Devi's will to be read out today

Jaipur, Aug.9 (ANI): The will of late Rajmata Gayatri Devi of Jaipur is likely to be read out today.

A receiver of the Supreme Court is in Jaipur to monitor the will issue.

Gayatri Devi left property, estimated to be Rs 1,100 crore behind her. The will is likely to be disclosed before the family.

Today is the last day of the 12-day mourning period.

Gayatri Devi was the only owner of the property left by her husband Maharaj Swai Man Singh II.

As per records, the late Maharaja Sawai Man Singh, divided his assets equally among his four sons in 1959. Brigadier Bhawani Singh inherited the Raj Mahal, and went on to become the ruler of Jaipur prior to the abolition of the Privy Purse in 1971.

He also inherited his father's share of the property under the Hindu Succession Act (the rule of primogeniture). This included Moti Dungri, Amroodon Ka Bagh, Khatipura, Jaigarh Fort, Ashok Club, Mount Abu Palace, etc.

Jai Singh became the owner of a Thikana of Newai in Tonk district, and a bungalow in civil lines, while Prithivi Raj Singh was given property and land at Bhagatwatgarh in Sawai Madhopur District, and Baria House in Jaipur. Prithivi Raj Singh filed a case in the Delhi High Court under the Hindu Succession Act, demanding a share in the properties left behind by the late Maharaja.

Gayatri Devi's only son Jagat Singh was given the Isarda properties. After his death in London, Gayatri Devi inherited the same.

Jagat Singh is survived by his ex-wife Priyarangsit, son Dev Raj Singh and daughter Laliya who currently reside in Thailand.If sources are to believed, Gayatri Devi has left a will for Devraj Singh and daughter Lalitya.(ANI)
