New Delhi, Aug. 7(ANI): Upset at the recent attack on Christians in Gojra town of Pakistan, a group of Christians gathered outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi on Friday to protest and submit a memorandum.
The delegation led by archbishop Vincent M. Concessao demanded security for the Christian minorities in Pakistan.
"This is because of the atrocities that have taken place against Christians on a false accusation that they have desecrated the Quran, it did not happen," Concessao said.
Concessao further urged Pakistan to abolish the country's much abused blasphemy law.
"Repeal the blasphemy law. It has already taken up many lives, it is misused and there is lot of distortion of reality because of this law. People just accuse others of desecrating it and then the mob reacts very violently," he added.
Meanwhile, Rana Sanaullah, Law Minister of Pakistan's Punjab province, has said that preliminary investigation showed there was no desecration of the Koran and a "rumour" was exploited by anti-state elements to create chaos.
The police have registered a complaint against some government officials and over 800 unidentified men, as Christian leaders mourned the killings and demanded punishment for the culprits. (ANI)
