Agra, Sat, 04 Jul 2009 ANI

Agra, July 4 (ANI): A group of 34 students from the Nanghar University in Afghanistan recently visited Agra to study Hindi.

The students included six girls and 28 boys.

The students are being taught the language by the Central Hindi Organisation (CHO).

Chandrakant Tripathi, organization's secretary said: "Afghani students visiting India, especially women, is surprise because women in Afghanistan are known to stay confined under their veils."

The students will attend special classes for six weeks.

Some of the students said they were eager to learn the language.

"For me there is a sole motive behind learning Hindi because Aryans wrote Vedas (the ancient scriptures or revelation of the Hindu teachings) and I want to discover how truthful they are," said Sufiya, a student.

At present, CHO is planning to offer degrees like proficiency certification, Graduation Diploma and Post Graduation Diploma in Hindi to the foreign students. (ANI)
