Gulf students outperform those in India in CBSE class 10 exams

New Delhi, May 29 (IANS) Students from the Gulf region have outperformed their Indian counterparts, recording a whopping 97.66 pass percentage in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 10 results declared Friday.

 

The pass percentage of students in India was 88.84 percent. A total of 11,210 students - 5,595 girls and 5,615 boys - appeared for the class 10 exams from various Gulf countries this year.

 

 

These students from countries like United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain appeared for the exams in 38 centres in March.

 

 

The overall pass percentage in the region recorded a marginal increase of 0.43 percent from last year.

 

 

Like their Indian counterparts, girls in the region have performed better than boys. While the pass percentage of girls was 98.64, that of boys was 96.69.

 

 

Besides the Gulf, the pass percentage of students in other countries was 97.41, an increase of 0.26 percent.

 

 

This year 828,598 students - 343,467 girls and 485,131 boys - took the class 10 exams in India and abroad.
