Born on July 6, 1983 in Srinagar to actors Ravi, and Jyoti Khemu the young Khemu attended a school in Mumbai. Later he joined Amity University for further studies. Kunal Khemu's first acted in a TV serial Gul Gulshan Gulfaam. Later he debuted on big screen with movie Sir directed by Mahesh Bhatt. Her good performance in the film as child artist paved the way for films like Raja Hindustani, Zakhm, Bhai and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke.

These roles groomed him for bigger assignment, as Kunal was not afraid of facing the camera in lead role. The little boy was morphed into a handsome hunk.
