Ambala
Ambala is one of the major cities in the state of Haryana in India. The city is better known as cantonment city due to huge presence of Indian Army and Indian Air in this urban hub. The city enjoys a strategic location and serves as a base for the tours of the neighboring states like Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh and Jammu & Kashmir.
The history of Ambala offers an insight into the significance of this region. The city’s history dates back to ancient ages when Indo-Aryan people settled in this region. The city of Ambala was made a district in 1847. In the British India, Ambala Cantonment was made in 1843 as the British army left the cantonment at Saphera due to spread of malaria. Since then the city has been a strong base of the Indian army.
Besides being a base for the forces, the city is also well known for its various industries. The city is one of the well-known hubs of home appliances that are commonly used in a kitchen. There are textile industries in Ambala and city is well known for its ornate bridal wear. With a host of colleges for general and professional colleges the city has emerged as a hub for education.
Ambala is also a tourist favorite as there is a host of tourist attractions in Ambala that include Badshahi Bag Gurudwara, Sis Ganj Gurudwara, Manji Sahib Gurudwara, Saint Paul’s Church, Christian Cemetery, Paget Park, St John’s Cathedral and Rang Mahal among other things.
