Cannes Film Festival
The Cannes Film Festival is founded in 1946. It is the world?s oldest, most influential and prestigious film festival. The private festival is held annually usually in the month of May at the Palais des Festivals et des Congr?s, which is the resort town of Cannes, in the south of France. The 62nd Cannes Film Festival is started on 13 May 2009 and it will end on 24 May 2009. The President and the Jury of 62nd Cannes Film Festival is French actress Isabelle Huppert.
Cannes Film Festival Board of Directors appoints juries prior to the beginning of each event. Jurors are chosen from a wide range of international artists, based on their work and respect from their peers. The most prestigious award given out at Cannes is the Palme d'Or or Golden Palm for the best film.
Cannes Film Festival gives massive media exposure. Several movie stars attend this non-public festival. It is also a popular venue for film producers to launch their new films and attempt to sell their works to the distributors who come from all over the globe.
