Being the second most populous nation in the world India deserves a large potential for the development of any game by the power of which it can excel any country. But the only that if It has not achieved the targeted goal despite its large human resource is that political deficiencies and lack of will from the government.

Tennis is one of the most famous and largest played games in the world with large numbers of supporters, lovers and players in the competitions held through the world. Tennis was first introduces in India during the colonial rule of England and slowly it gathered the ground till the present moment. With tennis achieving the success and popularity the government of India set up a management agency for Tennis called All India Tennis Association.

Headquartered in the national capital of Delhi AITA controls all the activities of Tennis and schedules its proceedings and matches in collaboration with the ministry of sports government of India. AITA

Arranges both national and international level matches between the players invited both from India and abroad. It grants financial incentives to Indian players in accordance with their performance in the game. The agency has been wholly funded by the government of India and works for the development of this game in the nation from the very grass root level.

India has produced many internationally and nationally acclaimed Tennis players through the assistance of AITA who have made the prestige of India fly high in the International scenario. Some of them are Tennis sensation Sania Mirza, Rohan Bopanna, Sunitha Rao, Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi. The rules and regulations followed by AITA are on the lines of International tennis Federation as AITA is affiliated to ITF.
