Anand Bakshi was a prominent lyricist who ruled the Bollywood for nearly half-century. He reigned supreme the Indian Hindi film industry by dint of his devotion to his work and sincerity to duties. Bakshi was born in 1930 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan but shifted to India after the Partition. Bakshi had the utmost desire to join in Hindi movies but the misfortune always enveloped him. But he was replete with the talent to sing and write songs that he had been doing from his early days and practicing whenever he got leisure. After a long tryst with destiny, Bakshi could be able to get an opportunity to materialize his dreams and ultimately the sun of fate rose for him in 1956 when he made debut in the Hindi movie as a lyricist to write four songs for Bhagwan Dada?s ?Bhala Aadmi?. He had come to Bollywood with the aim to become a singer but the fate made him a lyricist. He established himself as a versatile lyricist by composing scores of songs for many movies, which met with large success, thus helped him heightening his own career graph. For the astounding success and accomplishment, Bakshi has been bestowed with many awards and honours. Anand Bakshi?s deteriorating health forced his early departure from this physical world in 2002 but his memory will be eternal in the hearts and minds of his fans and lovers.
