Bangalore Royal Challengers IPL

Everything you need to know about Bangalore Royal Challengers IPL: news, reviews, in-depth analysis, opinion and more

Bangalore Royal Challenger's IPL 2009 Dreams

The second costliest IPL team at $111.6 million, acquired by liquor baron Vijay Mallya, failed to live up to its hype in the first IPL, finishing a lowly seventh in the points table just ahead of Deccan Chargers. This should not detract attention from the Royal Chalenger's current team in the second IPL, especially after addition of the dashing Kevin Pietersen, who also took over the RCB captaincy from Rahul Dravid.

The team has got off to a better start in IPL 2009 as compared to last year's IPL when it managed to win only in the end stages. This year Bangalore Royal Challengers defeated last year's IPL champions Rajasthan Royals convincingly, but were outplayed in the second match against Chennai Super Kings.

Royal Challenger's Bangalore has some outstanding cricketers like Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Robin Uthappa, Praveen Kumar apart from the captain, Kevin Pietersen. Vijay Mallya will be hoping his team reaches the final stages of the IPL season two to showcase his company's brands in their full glory.
