Ramdev launches products in open market

Uttar Pradesh,Health/Medicine, Wed, 04 Apr 2012 IANS

Lucknow, April 4 (IANS) Yoga guru Baba Ramdev Wednesday launched 800 Ayurvedic products that will be sold in open market via a chain of retail outlets and "super distributors" across nine states.

Addressing the media on the sidelines of a glittering launch that preceded patriotic songs sung by Bhojpuri singer Manoj Tiwari, he attacked all foreign brands.

He also slammed all those who supported the import of "videshi soch, samaan aur sabhyata".

He said a separate unit would soon be commissioned for exporting his products to Britain, the US, Gulf countries and Africa.

His products, till now being sold from exclusive outlets, would be 300-400 percent cheaper than those marketed and made by multinationals, he added.

The Yoga guru parried questions on who was funding the project. "I am a freehold ambassador of Swadeshi products. You should direct the questions to the chartered accounts in Haridwar."

Saying his products, brought out by the Divya Pharmacy and Patanajali, would now be available off the shelf in hundreds of outlets, Baba Ramdev also spoke about a variety of issues, from black money, to corruption.

In an indirect dig at the Congress, the Yoga guru said he would not like to name any political party for the "mess in the country" but said the "party which has been dumped in Uttar Pradesh will soon be wiped off the political map of the country as well".

Talking to IANS on the possibility of raproachment with anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, Ramdev said Hazare met him recently in Haridwar and they were both "focussed on taking on the corrupt that had infiltrated the political system".
