Phone-tapping row: Anna surrounded by ambitious people, says Digvijay Singh

New Delhi, Sun, 06 Nov 2011 ANI

New Delhi, Nov. 6 (ANI): A day after the civil society activists alleged that their phones were being tapped at the behest of the government, Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Sunday said veteran social activist Anna Hazare is surrounded by some very ambitious and smart people, who do not allow him to understand the nuances of the issue of corruption.

Responding to a question on the allegations made by Team Anna that the government is tapping their phone, Digvijay Singh said: "Well, I think the issue is that all people, who like Anna are slowly getting disillusioned with him which includes Digvijay Singh and Raju Parulekar both because there are some very ambitious people, smart people who have surrounded Anna Hazare. And poor Anna Hazareji is not allowed to understand the nuances of the issue of corruption."

Team Anna had on Saturday charged the Central Government with tapping phones of all its members, including 74-year-old Anna Hazare.

When asked to comment on yoga guru Baba Ramdev's latest remarks against the Congress Party, Digvijay Singh said: "I have stopped talking about Baba Ramdev. Why do you force me to talk about that thug (cheat)?

Ramdev had on Saturday hit out at the ruling Congress Party and said that it was a sinking ship.It may be recalled that Digvijay Singh and Baba Ramdev are engaged in a war of words over the last few days. Ramdev had very recently called Digvijay Singh a stupid person and 'Rakshas putra' ('monster son), which was criticized by the latter. (ANI)
