Bangalore, Oct 27(ANI): The Congress party today accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of conspiring in a phased manner by using veteran social activist Anna Hazare and two other yoga gurus as the medium of nationwide anti-corruption campaign.
Congress spokesperson Digvijay Singh alleged that the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) were campaigning against corruption to hide their past mistakes.
Singh also asserted that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre is taking every possible step to combat corruption from the country.
"All this is a part of an overall plan of the RSS and BJP. They want to divert the attention of the people of this country from the issue of involvement of Sangh activists in terror activities in Malegaon (blast at Maharashtra in 2006), Modasa (blast at Gujarat in 2008), Hyderabad (blasts at Mecca Masjid in 2007), Ajmer Dargah Sharif (blasts at the memorial shrine in 2007), Samjhauta Express (blast aboard the Lahore bound train in 2007)," Singh said.
"So, it''s an overall plan to divert the attention to corruption. UPA government has taken all possible steps under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi (Congress party chief) and Dr. Manmohan Singh (Prime Minister) to check corruption," he added.
Earlier in the day, Singh tweeted "Plan A - Baba Ramdev Crashed, Plan B- Anna? Plan C - Sri Sri Ravi Shankar soon to start his campaign".
Singh accused BJP of conspiring in a phased manner by using veteran social activist Anna Hazare, yoga guru Baba Ramdev and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar as the medium of nationwide anti-corruption campaign.
"BJP's record on charges of corruption has been pathetic. So, therefore, this is an overall plan. Plan A- Baba Ramdev (Yoga Guru), Plan B- Anna (Hazare, veteran social activist), Plan C- Sri Sri Ravishankar Maharaj (founder of Art of Living Guru)," Singh said. (ANI)
