UPA most corrupt and dishonest government since independence: BJP

Vishakhapatnam , Sun, 12 Jun 2011 ANI

Vishakhapatnam, June 12(ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said that the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre is the most corrupt and dishonest in the history of India.

Addressing a news conference in Vishakhapatnam, Naidu said that the government might go for one more round of emergency to stifle the opposition, suppress the dissent and crush the popular movement against corruption.

"Manmohan Singh government is the most corrupt and dishonest government in the history of the country. There is every possibility that this government may go for one more round of emergency to stifle the opposition, suppress the dissent and crush the popular movement against corruption," he said.

Naidu's reaction came after yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who launched a stir against corruption and black money, called off his fast at a hospital in Haridwar.

He further said that corruption has become overwhelming that's why not only political parties, but also social activists and even spiritual gurus have to come to streets to confront the government.

"The corruption has become over whelming that's why not only political parties, even social activists and even spiritual gurus, they have to come to streets to confront the government, it should be seen in that perspective. Opposition playing its role, we are highlighting the issue in parliament and outside, we have taken protest across the country, we are creating up another protest," Naidu said.

"We are confident the government will get JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) formed, we are doing our best but the government is adamant, arrogant, it is not moving," he added. (ANI)
