Thiruvananthapuram/ Kannur, Apr 10 (ANI): Stating that the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is leading the must corrupt government, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani has said that his party wants the Lokpal Bill to be passed in the next session of Parliament.

"So far as we are concerned, we would be willing to do it; there would be no difficulty. Even if it has to go before the Standing Committee, we shall see to it that the standing committee gives its report in the end of the session and the Bill is passed," said Advani, while addressing election rallies on Saturday.

Criticizing the Prime Minister, Advani said: "Manmohan Singh had a good image before he became the Prime Minister. I am sorry to say that he is now presiding over the most corrupt government the country has seen."

"If unprecedented price rise was the highlight of the UPA Government in 2010, in 2011 its hallmark is huge scams like 2G spectrum corruption, Adarsh Housing scam and irregularities in the conduct of Commonwealth Games," he added.

The Centre finally agreed to veteran social activist Anna Hazare demands for the formulation of Lokpal Bill on Saturday.

The government has agreed that a committee will be set up with five representatives of civil society, including Hazare, and five ministers.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will head the drafting panel that will include Home Minister P Chidambaram, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal, Law Minister Veerappa Moily and Water Resource Minister Salman Khurshid.

Former Law Minister Shanti Bhushan is Hazare's choice as co- chairman of the committee.

The government has set a deadline of June 30 for the panel to complete its work so that the bill can be introduced during the monsoon session of Parliament. (ANI)
