Mauritius PM arrives India for his six-day visit

New Delhi, Feb 6:

Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam today arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi with a high level of delegates, business men and senior officers in order to hold several bilateral social, economical, cultural meeting with their counterparts.

During his six-day visit, he is schedule to meet President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Vice-President M. Hamid Ansari and holding bilateral talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

He will also attend an official banquet organized by Indian PM in his honour.

Moreover, he will also hold the meetings with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister S. Jaipal Reddy and the Minister of State for External Affairs.

Mauritius PM will also visit to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and will attend business events both in New Delhi and in Mumbai.

On his visit to Mumbai, Ramgoolam will meet the Governor of Maharashtra and attend a banquet organized in his honour by governor.

Mr Ramgoolam will also grace the Convocation Ceremony of Kurukshetra University on February 8, as a Special Guest of Honour where a Degree of Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) will be conferred on him.

Ramgoolam visit will be followed by a visit of President Patil to Mauritius between April 24 and 28, 2011.

India-Mauritius relations are exclusive in nature, as both these countries share historical and cultural linkages, which have developed into a modern lively partnership.<

Mauritius PM visit is supposed to speed up the expanding and broadening bilateral engagement between the two countries, says a statement issued by Ministry of External Affairs.

Several Memoranda of Understanding/agreements in diverse fields are supposed to be signed during his visit.
