Gurgaon, April 25 (IANS) A 10-day-old baby girl was found abandoned in the old jail complex in the city Wednesday, the third such case in less than a fortnight, police said.

The girl was heard crying in a garbage dump in the rear of commercial building Krishna Palace by a rag picker who then informed the shop keepers and police.

"She might have been dropped there some time in the morning Wednesday," said Station House Officer (City) Naresh Kumar. The baby was admitted to civil hospital.

Chief Medical Officer Parveen Garg told IANS: "The baby seems to be 10 days old and she is quite healthy. She has a weight of 1.8 kg. The baby has been kept in the neo-natal intensive care unit."

Garg said: "After completing the paper work, two other babies, rescued in similar conditions earlier, were shifted to a children's home at Panchkula recently."

One of the two babies shifted to Panchkula was a 45-day-old girl who was found abandoned April 12 under a tree in the Civil Hospital premises. The other was also a girl, found in Dundahera on Delhi border.
