Siddiqui slams Mayawati for playing with emotion of Dalits

New Delhi, Sat, 14 Apr 2012 ANI

New Delhi, Apr 14 (ANI): Samajwadi Party leader Shahid Siddiqui on Saturday criticized Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati for unnecessarily whipping up Dalit emotions."Mayawati has been praying to God since we came to power that something should be done by us and she would get a chance to whip up passion amongst the poor Dalits. She wants add fuel to the fire. But we did not give her any such opportunity. So, now she is manufacturing non-issues on her own," said Siddiqui."She is trying to play the victim. We are not going to bite her nor are we going to harm the parks, we also respect the Dalit leaders and ideologues," he added.Siddiqui further said that strict action would be initiated with regard to the corruption involved in the construction of parks. The important thing though is if for the construction of parks, scams were committed, and if money of the poor Dalits, the poor and downtrodden was wasted and swindled then action will be taken against the culprits. Nothing would be done to the statues," he added.Mayawati earlier today said the law and order situation might worsen not only in Uttar Pradesh, but across the country if the SP Government plans to make new constructions in the parks where the statues of Dalit icons have been erected.Addressing a gathering in Lucknow on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, Mayawati said: "As per reports published in various newspapers, I would like to tell the Samajwadi Party Government that if it plans to make new constructions in the parks where statues of Dalit icons have been erected, then not only in Uttar Pradesh but the law and order situation may worsen in the whole country."
