Britney Spears wants 'Smash' role

Washington, Feb 24 (ANI): Britney Spears is reportedly in talks for a role in NBC's musical drama 'Smash', which premiered on February 6, 2012.

According to In Touch magazine, the 'Toxic' hitmaker has met with producers of the musical drama and they are working with writers in a bid to find a fitting role for the pop star, Contactmusic reported.

If she does, it won't be the pop queen's first TV acting gig. She started out as a regular on kids show 'The Mickey Mouse Club' and has appeared on 'Glee', 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'Will and Grace'.

'Smash' chronicles two wannabe theatre stars fighting for the lead role in a fictional Marilyn Monroe musical.

The all-star cast features Anjelica Huston, Debra Messing, Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty. (ANI)
