Congress has no political future: Nitish Kumar

Patna, Tue, 07 Feb 2012 ANI

Patna, Feb 7 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has the ruling Congress party had no political future.

Talking to reporters here, Kumar said that the Congress would suffer a political rout at the next general election, on account of the people's anger against the party, given the spate of instances of graft during its second innings in power, which began in 2009.

"Whenever the Lok Sabha goes to polls, there is no future for the Congress party. The political atmosphere and the Congress' popularity have taken such a hit that there is no scope left," Kumar added.

Kumar further said that there was no rift between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and his own Janata Dal-United in Bihar.

"We contest elections separately in several states. The alliance is mainly in Bihar, and there is no adverse impact on that alliance. When a party goes to polls, its workers and office bearers go for campaigning. So if I went and our counterparts of the Bihar, BJP also went (to Uttar Pradesh), there is no need to read too much into it," Kumar added. (ANI)
