Strong sibling bonds key to fight mental health problem among children
New Delhi, Jun 25 (ANI): Strong sibling bonds can help a child recover from mental health problems caused due to parental strife. Children who experience often destructive conflicts with their parents are at a higher risk of developing mental health problems. A new study claimed that strong sibling bond is the key to fight it. A good relationship with a brother or sister decreases their tendencies to experience distress in response to later disagreements between parents. Researchers show that teens with strong sibling relationships are protected from experiencing distress in response to later parental discord. Children use their siblings as sources of protection and emotional support. Siblings may develop friendship bonds that involve shared warmth, disclosure about concerns, support corrective feedback and sharing their perceptions about family life.
