Chandigarh, May 7 (IANS) Voting in Haryana got off to a sluggish start Thursday, but more voters turned out in four parliamentary seats of adjoining Punjab.

Election department officials here said 13 percent voter turnout had been recorded by 10 a.m. in Haryana. All 10 parliamentary seats in the state are going to the polls Thursday.

The main contest here is between the ruling Congress and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) combine.

In Punjab, voting was on for four seats - Bathinda, Sangrur, Ferozepur and Patiala. The main contest is between the Congress and the ruling Akali Dal-BJP alliance.

The high profile Lok Sabha seat of Bathinda saw a good response from voters, especially in rural areas.

In some polling booths, nearly 30 percent voting was reported in the first three hours of voting, which started at 7 a.m.

There were reports of minor clashes between Congress and Akali activists in a few places in Bathinda constituency.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his nephew, Finance Minister Manpreet Badal, were among the early voters in Lambi, the native village of the Badal family.

Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal and his wife Harsimrat Badal voted later.
