One held in Thirunelveli

Bangalore, July 28 (ANI): After the serial blast in Bangalore and Ahmedabad, Tamil Nadu police has swung into action to nab terrorist activists in the state. They have arrested Abdul Ghaffoor, 39, in Thirunelveli.

 

After a tip-off, police surrounded his house at Makthum Masjid Street in Pettai and seized about 21 items including time-piece, battery cells and two plastic containers.According to police, Ghaffoor, a key activist of Tamilaga Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam, is an expert in making bombs. He was planning to bring it to Chennai.

 

Further investigation is on to find out whether he has any connection with any terror network in the country or outside.

 

Major cities have been on high alert over fears of more terror strikes after 46 people were killed in two days of bombings in Ahmedabad and Bangalore.

 

Police conducted security checks and sounded a high alert in Kerala following the threats.

 

Reportedly, a television channel in Karnataka received an e-mail threatening that Kerala would be the next target of the terrorists.

 

Meanwhile, major cities have been on high alert over fears of more terror strikes after at least 46 people were killed in two days of bombings in Ahmedabad and Bangalore.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam as vigil was heightened at bus stops, railway stations and airports.

 

Kerala's top police official convened a high-level meeting in the capital to take stock of the security situation.

 

Police were on their toes in Mumbai and security was also stepped in Tirupati.

 

In Madhya Pradesh security was placed on high alert. (ANI)
