July 23: Special task police force of U P on Sunday morning achieved success in ending the terror of Dadua, a dreaded dacoit from Uttar Pradesh. He was killed along with his nine companions in Chitrakoot district bordering U.P.

He had created a reign of terror in various areas of U.P. as well as in adjacent areas of M.P by looting, kidnapping, extortion and murder that is also without any fear for alleged patronage by political parties of the state.

Dadua, original name Shiv Kumar Patel, faced over 200 criminal charges against him. He also carried a reward of Rs. 5 lakhs on his head by U.P. police. U.P. and M.P. police started various joint operations to trap him but efforts of state police were often frustrated by his approach in political galleries and a vast network of his informers.

This time police could grab him when tipped off by their informer about his whereabouts and instantly carried operation to catch him. He was killed on Sunday morning in encounter with STF personnel in the hilly area of Jhalmal Aelaha hamlet in Chitrakoot district.

DGP Vikram Singh told that high technology combined with the network of police informers helped in tracing him. “A superior information gathering system and informer network helped in preparing comprehensive strategy” said DGP Vikram Singh.

Police force led by STF SSP Amitabh Yash recovered from the site various automatic weapons and a large quantity of ammunition, phone chargers and batteries after the encounter. His aides Chote Patel, Angad Patel were also killed in Kusmuhi village in Chitrakoot district.

Alert has been created in view of the recent killing of the notorious dacoit and expected retaliation by the gang in M.P. and near by U.P. districts as Thokia gang is also being targeted in the Kusumhia forest.

On Sunday late night in another encounter with Thokia gang or Ambika Patel gang six policemen were killed.

STF team was attacked by the gang on Chitrakoot-banda border while returning from forest after encounter. Operation against gang was called off due to the darkness and the policemen were coming back from the site when they were retaliated. Thokia carries a reward of Rs. 3 lacs on his head and faces 76 cases.

Encounter is still on between STF jawans and the dacoits gang.
