New Delhi, Nov 26 (IANS) Nearly 100 public meetings took place across the national capital Wednesday with every political party bringing in its 'stars' to woo the voters before campaigning ends Thursday evening.

Elections in Delhi are scheduled to take place Nov 29 and the campaigning would end Thursday evening at 5 p.m.

The political parties are trying their best to attract the voters during the last phase of campaigning. While leaders like L.K Advani and Narendra Modi campaigned for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi campaigned in east Delhi to attract the voters for the Congress.

The BJP alone organised more than 50 election meetings across Delhi and the leaders who campaigned included its prime ministerial candidate Advani, Modi, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitely, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri, V.K. Malhotra, Murli Manohar Joshi, Shatrughan Sinha, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Suhsil Modi, former cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu and actress Smriti Irani.

The public meetings of Narendra Modi, who campaigned in the city Tuesday and Wednesday, in particular were quite well attended.

Meanwhile, the Congress, trying hard to fight the anti-incumbency factor, is hoping to attract voters with the help of leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Rahul Gandhi, who is touted as the Congress's youth icon, started his campaign in the capital with a road show. The road show took place in Pandav Nagar, Shashi Garden and Kotla village bus stop.

Rahul Gandhi then held a rally at Seemapuri area in the afternoon. However, the rally did not draw a big crowd.

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), which is hoping to make a dent into capital politics, also campaigned extensively in the city Wednesday. BSP chief Mayawati held a huge rally in Sultanpuri in the afternoon.
