Fashion debate at Cannes

Shivani Gupta, Wed, 21 May 2008 NI Wire

As the year's hottest event governs the media at Cannes; various brain-hitting debates have started raising their heads as usual. The 61st film festival at Cannes exudes a new style statement for the actresses of Hollywood as well as Bollywood. The Red Carpet issue like always is the subject of keen interest for all.

Aishwarya looks stunning in her black gown and chik hair style. The absence of jewellery and simple makeover imparts her Hollywood look and she doesn't essentially represent India as far as her looks are concerned. But who cares????? When every girl next door in the country is wearing a pencil heel and playing hip-hop rather than the essential Desi stuff, Aishwarya has full liberty to break the stereotypical image of the Indian Nari wearing 'Do Chutki Sindoor' and the highly precious 'Mangalsutra'. What objection can be done on her showing her cleavage when her Pa-in-Law accompanies the Kajrare girl...

Anjelina Jolie is the subject of discussion as she parades on the Divine carpet in her baggy gown surprisingly without revealing any of her body's sensuous parts, (as she is expecting twins this time). The heavily pregnant Angelina who was wearing a motherly smile looked gorgeously divine in her goddess looking outfit. Her modest look would probably inspire other actresses teaching them that one can look equally elegant in covered outfits than coming barely clad.

Actress of 'The Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria marches on to the Red Carpet with Ash in her beautifully designed Blue gown but looks dwarf in comparison to the Queen of beauty. As the twin beauties step ahead on the desired carpet, infinite cameras flash together to click-imprison the Style Divas of Hollywood and Bollywood.
