Treat Raj Thackeray like anti-national: BJP leader

National,Politics, Fri, 31 Oct 2008 IANS

Lucknow, Oct 31 (IANS) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kalraj Mishra Friday demanded that Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray should be treated like an 'anti-national' for attacks on non-Maharashtrians.

'The National Security Act (NSA) must be slapped on Thackeray with immediate effect for attacking people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar who had gone to Maharashtra to earn a livelihood,' Mishra told reporters here.

Mishra accused the Congress-led Maharashtra government of supporting Thackeray in his 'anti-national activities'.

'Actually, it is the Maharashtra government which is giving full freedom to MNS activists to assault the people of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar,' he alleged.

Mishra, who is also the party's election in-charge in Uttar Pradesh, attacked the Congress-led central government for not taking action against Thackeray.

'Owing to vote bank politics, the central government is not showing the will power to act against Thackeray and ban his MNS.'

Kalraj also demanded a ban on the Political Muslim Council, alleging that its chief Tasleem Rehmani had called India's first home minister Sardar Vallabhai Patel a terrorist.

'In a conclave in Azamgarh Oct 19, Rehmani called Patel a terrorist,' claimed Mishra.
