17 Bangladeshis arrested for fishing in Indian waters

Jagatsinghpur (Orissa), Oct 22 (IANS) As many 17 Bangladeshi fishermen were arrested Wednesday for illegally fishing in the Bay of Bengal near Orissa's Paradip port, police said.

 

'They were fishing illegally in Indian waters some 35 nautical miles from the Paradip port,' Bhabani Sankar Mishra, inspector in charge of the Paradip police station, told IANS.

 

 

'The Coast Guards nabbed them and handed them over to police,' he said.

 

 

Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district is about 100 km from state capital Bhubaneswar.
