Bhupen Hazarika's books in demand at annual book fair in Guwahati

Guwahati, Dec 26 (ANI): Books on Assam's legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika were in great demand at the recently held 13th annual book fair in Guwahati.

 

A bookstall owner, Biswajit Saikia said that though he has died his legacy has still remained.

 

"Bhupen Hazarika has died but his legacy will never die. It is sad to say that people knew less about him when he was alive but after his death the electronic media created a buzz, which inspired people to buy books written on him," said Saikia.

 

People in Assam fondly remember Hazarika through his songs and poetry which have been an inspiration for many people.

 

Bhupen Hazarika was a poet, journalist, singer, lyricist, musician, filmmaker and writer.he 85-year-old iconic singer- composer, passed away on 5th November after prolonged illness in Mumbai.

 

Hazarika had won several awards like Dadasaheb Phalke and Padma Bhushan for his contribution to the field of music.

 

Several of his compositions were even used in Bollywood movies as well. (ANI)
