In the move to deter the possible ban on Hindu's religious scripture Srimad Bhagwad Gita in Siberia, Russia, dismayed Hindus led by the top followers of International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) living in Russia have appealed to a Siberian court to seek the views of the nation's human rights panel on the religious text and preaching, before pronouncing its verdict.

The court has agreed the listen the opinion of the Russian Ombudsman on Human Right and deferred the final verdict till 28 December.

As it is known that a group relating to the Christian Orthodox Church in Russia has reportedly described 'Gita' as 'extremist' and move to a court in Tomsk, Siberia, Russia allegedly asking to ban it, as it can sow social disorder in Russia.

This move of group has strongly opposed in India and all the Hindus living across the world.

The followers of ISCKON society have taken this matter to the Indian ambassador in Russia Ajai Malhotra, who has asked the Russian Government to intervene in this matter to protect the welfare and faith of the minorities in the country.

India too has appealed to their counterparts to intervene in this matter and to protect the 'faith' of minorities in the country.

On the other hand, Russian Ambassador in India Alexander M Kadakin has expressed his regret on this matter and said in a statement, "Well, it seems that even the lovely city of Tomsk has its own neighbourhood madmen. It is sad indeed. I consider it categorically inadmissible when any holy scripture is taken to the courts. For all believers these texts are sacred," he added.
