VHP leader Togadia up in arms against Muslim reservation

Bareilly , Mon, 21 Nov 2011 ANI

Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh), Nov 21 (ANI): Expressing his anguish over Muslim reservation, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) general secretary Praveen Togadia has said that not even a single Muslim will enjoy reservation if a Hindu is denied employment.

"If youth belonging to the Hindu community in India do not get employment due to Muslim reservation, we would not even allow one Muslim enjoy the benefits of reservation," Togadia told the media here.

Meanwhile, commenting on the simmering proposal of dividing Uttar Pradesh into four separate parts, Togadia said that the issue needs a consensus by various groups and political parties and only then should the idea be allowed to prosper.

"There should be a detailed discussion on the segregation of Uttar Pradesh into four parts. It is a big decision and requires a nod by everyone, so that it benefits people at large. Until and unless there is consensus on the issue, talks should continue," said Togadia.

Mayawati had earlier this month announced that Uttar Pradesh would be reorganised into four smaller states - Bundelkhand, Awadh Pradesh, Poorvanchal and Paschim Pradesh.

She also revealed that the resolution for a division of the state into four parts would be formally passed during the state assembly session that is to begin from November 21.

Poorvanchal comprises of 22 eastern districts of the state, including Gorakhpur and Balia. The current capital Lucknow would fall in Awadh Pradesh, which comprises of 14 districts.

Bundelkhand has seven districts, including Jhansi, while Paschim Pradesh would have 22 districts, comprising Meerut, Ghaziabad and Gutam Buddh Nagar among others. (ANI)
