BJP accuses Manmohan Singh of covering corruption, defending tainted minister

Bhagalpur, Thu, 03 Nov 2011 ANI

Bhagalpur, Nov 3 (ANI): Slamming Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his perceived hesitation in probing exposed scams, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain has questioned the latter for 'covering corruption' and defending 'tainted 'ministers.

"The Prime Minister in all his speeches highlights that an effective anti-graft law should be constituted but his government has become weak now and despite of fighting against the corrupt minister, he keeps covering all tainted ministers and that is the reason why the whole country doesn't take his statement seriously, the question is that why Manmohan Singh is covering up corruption, why is he not accepting zero tolerance against corruption," Hussain told the media here.

"Is he innocent and can he say that his entire ministry is innocent. Till today, Prime Minister has not said anything about his cabinet, his many ministers are in jail and some of them are in a way towards jail and still he is saying that he will constitute an effective law and that is why the BJP sees Prime Minister's remarks as ploy to divert the attention," he added.

He asked why doesn't Manmohan Singh shows zero tolerance against corruption.

He also urged the government to name the tainted ministers whose names are in the black money scam.

"This is correct that black money is kept in foreign banks and people of the country are in trouble, impoverished situation is there in the country and the government is not serious over black money, all those names, which are revealed by the government to the court," he said.

"It is the responsibility of the government to put forward those names in public, it is wrong on the part of the government by saying that revealing names of the tainted minister would be a blot on the nation's image. BJP wants to say that people of the country wants to know that whose money is black and is kept in foreign banks and their names must come in the picture," he added.

The process of disclosure commenced when Swiss banks were forced by the US and other Western countries to disclose the details of their nationals who maintain accounts with them. (ANI)
