Kejriwal accuses Congress of being steeped in arrogance

Rohtak, Sat, 08 Oct 2011 ANI

Rohtak, Oct 8 (ANI): Reiterating that an effective Jan Lokpal Bill will help in getting rid of corruption from the country, RTI crusader Arvind Kejriwal, a key figure in veteran social activist Anna Hazare's crusade against corruption, on Saturday accused the ruling Congress Party of being steeped in arrogance, and urged the people not to vote for it.

Kejriwal lashed out at Congress lawmakers for alleging that Anna Hazare is involved in corruption.

"The Congress is now in pride. Kapil Sibal and Manish Tiwari call Anna Hazare, who lives in a temple, to be corrupt. Can't they see the corruption that has been done by Kalmadi, Raja, Chidambaram and Kapil Sibal. They find Anna Hazare, who is a beggar with no bank balance, to be corrupt. They are steeped in arrogance. The people of the country will teach them a lesson this time. Congress Party will then come to know that if they act against the common man, they will lose their existence," said Kejriwal.

"Do not vote for the Congress because the matter in concern is the Jan Lokpal Bill. If the Jan Lokpal Bill comes at the Centre, then Lokayuktas will be formed in every state. If Lokayuktas will be formed, then all those corrupt officials will go to jail and we will be able to get rid of corruption. We urge people to come out and vote for the right candidate.

This whole election should be against the congress," he added.

Reacting to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat's claim that the saffron outfit always backed Anna's agitation, Kejriwal said all those who participated in Hazare's movement were Indians and not the RSS people.

"This whole movement was the movement of the Indians. All the Indians participated in this movement. If Mohan Bhagwat says the people of RSS were present at the Ramlila Maidan, then they were not present because of the RRS, but they participated in the movement because they all were Indians. People from the Congress Party, CPM and the common men were all present there," said Kejriwal.

Hitting out at Bhagwat, Kejriwal further said that he should stop taking credit for Anna's movement.

"Our leadership in this movement, can they name any person of our movement having links with the RSS. We do no have any links with the RSS, BJP or the Congress. Thirdly, I would appeal to Mohan Bhagwat that he should take credit for whatever he does, and not for what he has not done. It is the movement of the Indians; let it be the movement of the Indians," said Kejriwal.

"Bhagwat should take credit for what he has done in Gujarat and not for Anna's movement. It is not the movement of the RSS and so he should stop taking credit for it," he added.

Hazare, 74, had earlier vehemently denied the role of the RSS in his anti-corruption crusade.

"Nobody from the RSS came before me or met me. I did not meet any RSS worker. I don't know on what basis these accusations are being made," he said. (ANI)
