New Delhi , Wed, 14 Sep 2011 ANI

New Delhi, Sep 14 (ANI): With inflation inching closer to the double-digit figure of 9.78 percent, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday said the government and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will tackle the problem collectively.

"Inflation has gone up from 9.22 to 9.78 perilously close to the double digit figure. Of course in the overall environment, all over the world it was expected that inflationary pressures would rise and all groups are checking up the figures including the manufacturing also which has increased," Mukherjee told mediapersons here.

"This is the time of stress not only in India, but all over the world and we shall have to maintain our nerves and we shall have to see how we can overcome the problem. Reserve Bank is also watching the situation like government of India, and collectively it would be possible for us to tackle the problem," he added.

Headline inflation inched closer to the double-digit mark in August, rising to 9.78 per cent on the back of soaring prices of food and manufactured products. (ANI)
