Nevada (US), August 19 (ANI): The Sri Raja Ganapathi Temple in Swedesboro (New Jersey), also known as Veda Agama Sudha and Sivaguru Ashram, is planning expansion, according to reports.

The planned expansion includes adding a decorative archway and a larger worship area. After the expansion, the temple plans to offer yoga and meditation also.

Meanwhile, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) on Thursday, applauded the efforts of the temple management and area community for these planned additions to the Hindu temple complex.

Zed, who is president of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that these new temple additions would help in this direction.

He stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.

Built in 2005, this temple also reportedly attracts devotees from Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Its daily events include abishekam, parayanam, etc., and on August 26, it plans to have pradosham (including abishekam, utsavam and arathi).

Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents.

Formed in 1902, Swedesboro is a borough in Gloucester County. It houses Nothnagle Log Cabin (built 1640) and Trinity Episcopal "Old Swedes" Church (1784), both registered National Historic Places.

Prominent people associated with Swedesboro include track and field sprinter R.J.Page, Civil War brigadier general Charles Garrison Harker and football player Dorien Bryant. Thomas W. Fromm is Mayor while George J. Weeks is President of Swedesboro Council. (ANI)
