Floodwater inundates over 50 villages in Sindh

Badin, August 17(ANI): More than fifty villages in Pakistan's Sindh province have been inundated after the floodwater coming from Badin saline nullahs entered two tehsils of Thatta.

 

According to reports, the floodwater has changed its course towards Thatta district and has breached saline nullahs of two tehsils- Jati and Mirpur Bathoro- at eight different places.

 

Cotton, rice and other crops standing at thousands of acres have been destroyed by the floodwater, Geo News reports.

 

Hundreds of flood-hit people are taking shelter in two government schools at Jati Chowk.

 

The floodwater from saline nullahs of Badin still continues due to breaches developed at several places after a passage of seven days. Thousands of flood affectees have taken refuge in different relief camps set up by the district government.

 

The rescue and relief operation initiated by the Pakistan Army is underway in the flood-affected areas of Badin and Tando Muhamad Khan located in interior Sindh, The Express Tribune reported.

 

The army has also provided boats to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in the affected areas. (ANI)
