Rawalpindi, Thu, 11 Aug 2011 ANI

Rawalpindi, August 11(ANI): An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Pakistan has issued a contempt of court notice to Interior Minister Rehman Malik over his statement concerning the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack case.

The main accused in the Mumbai carnage case, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, filed a petition against Malik for giving incorrect statements regarding the case.

The court issued the contempt of court notice to the Interior Minister for the statement he made in Thimpu, Nepal during the SAARC Conference.

During the conference, Malik had stated that the government had formed a judicial commission, which would travel to Mumbai for further investigations into the Mumbai attacks, The Express Tribune reports.

Lakhvi's counsel said that no such judicial commission has been formed yet. Lakhvi, meanwhile, sent an application for the formation of a commission to probe the case.

The court has reserved its verdict on this matter. (ANI)
