Ruling Pakistan parties, not Taliban, behind ongoing Karachi bloodbath: Imran Khan

Lahore, Sat, 09 Jul 2011 ANI

Lahore, July 9(ANI): Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has accused the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Awami National Party (ANP) of being directly involved in the target killings in Karachi.

Refuting the claims of Interior Minister Rehman Malik about the involvement of the Taliban in Karachi killings, Imran alleged that criminal elements in the PPP, MQM and ANP were behind Karachi violence, and not the Taliban.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Imran said that the state protection of criminals and terrorists was the main reason of the ongoing bloodbath in Karachi.

Karachi bloodshed will not stop until the rulers give up patronising criminals, he added.

The PTI chief also alleged that Malik had visited Karachi after each incident of violence only to strike a peace deal among the three ruling coalition parties, The News reports.

If the three parties want peace in the port city, they should throw out the criminal elements from their ranks and hand them over to the law enforcement agencies, he added.

Imran also said that as the government had failed on all fronts, it must resign immediately and pave the way for holding mid-term polls, which he said is the only solution to the problems being faced by the country. (ANI)
